       Ace Hardware of Bridgeport,WV. has been serving local communities for over fifty years. It is the oldest Ace Hardware store in the state of West Virginia. The store originially opened and operated under the name of Bridgeport Supply in 1959,by F.H.(Huff) Brake. In 1962 Huff joined his small one room hardware and feed store to the Ace Hardware Franchise, based in Chicago, IL.

 

    The Ace Hardware franchise was originally founded by Mr. Hesse, in 1924. It was named after the famous WWI "ACE" fighter pilots, who valiantly fought and served thier country in a time when the world was in chaos.

 

   When Mr. F.H. Brake first joined the ACE HARDWARE FRANCHISE , he and his brothers (whom owned and opperated the Brake Brothers company) would drive trucks once a month to Chicago,Il. to pick up merchandise for the store. As time went by with the help from those supplies,loyal customers and loyal employees,the store went from the small one room store to boast over 17,000 sq. ft. of sales floor, and much more warehouse space.And now offers anything from hardware to housewares and paint. 

 

  Ace Hardware of Bridgeport's appearance may have changed over the years, but some things never will, such as Ace Hardware of Bridgeport  has been passed down from generation to generation.The current owner is Ms. Sharri Brake. Who still holds the same goals in mind as when Huff originally founded it.
